Going beyond traditional talk therapy, I work collaboratively with you to define, establish, track, and reach your goals. I actively and supportively listen, challenge negative or inaccurate beliefs, and help you get to the root of the issue.
You’ll learn effective thinking and behavioral tools tailored to your particular needs, and even hone those techniques with customized “homework” outside of sessions. My proactive, skills-based approach stems from an unyielding commitment to help you move forward, make positive changes, and lead a happy, fulfilling life.
Areas of Expertise
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, sleep or other obstacles—I can help. I’ve worked with moms, grads, college students, war vets, entrepreneurs, CEOs, and pros from top tech firms and startups—including Facebook, Google, Square, Twitter, and more—on everything from time, stress and sleep management to career, relationships, and goal setting.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a collaborative, supportive approach to help you manage and resolve personal challenges. The process is active, focused, and goal-oriented, with the aim of helping you achieve your highest potential.
INSOMNIA/SLEEP – Not being able to sleep creates challenges in every area of our life. Having seen hundreds of people struggle with sleep problems—and overcoming insomnia myself—motivated me to in-depth study and research the most effective solution. The result is “Stop Worrying and Go to Sleep: How to Put Insomnia to Bed for Good” an indispensable insomnia recovery workbook that has helped countless sleep sufferers with research-verified techniques I’ve developed in my clinical practice. My CBT-based approach uniquely and effectively addresses behaviors, lifestyle choices, and the negative/worrisome thoughts that contribute to poor sleep.
ANXIETY/STRESS – I have specialized training and experience in treating anxiety disorders — including panic attacks, generalized anxiety, and social anxiety. I’ve helped a wide variety of individuals overcome and manage anxiety disorders through individual therapy and numerous groups at Kaiser Permanente, San Francisco VA Medical Center, and California State University, Sacramento. I’ve also led test anxiety workshops for medical students at the UCSF Medical School.
I also have extensive knowledge and experience in these areas:
- Relationship Challenges
- Family Issues
- Marital Issues/Divorce
- Career/Work Issues & Transitions
- Time Management
- Procrastination/Improving Motivation
- Building Self-Esteem/Self-Confidence
- Work/Life Balance
- School-Related Problems
- Increasing Happiness
Your confidential sessions are online – through Skype, FaceTime, or by phone, which provides many advantages over in-person therapy:
- Convenience. No driving, no parking, no stress.
- Easy Access. With just a computer, tablet, or smartphone you have direct access to my support from almost anywhere.
- Total Privacy. You don’t have to worry about running into someone you know in the waiting room. Your anonymity is completely secure. You can reach out from the privacy of your own home or office, on the road, or on vacation.
- Personalized. Each session is tailored to fit your specific needs.
- Effective. Scientific studies prove online therapy to be as effective—and in some cases, even more beneficial, than in-person therapy
Ultimately, what’s most important to successful therapy is the trust and connection we establish. My clients consistently report forgetting they are online, and just become engaged in our work together. Click here to read testimonials from some of my former clients.
